Primaloft Gold Active and Primaloft Gold
My opinion, one of the best synthetic insulated jackets for your buck.
- Good quality of materials and amount of fill/insulation
- Zippers effortless
- Good USA fit
- Weighs nothing
- Overall design excellent period.
- None yet.
For ease of use and packability this can't be beat. Mountain Hardwear has, in my opinion, always made a nice quality product for the money. Yes, the Primaloft Gold is worth the extra money.
Previously the TNF Denali Jacket was my go-to. This is more windproof and lighter and most importantly slips on and off with ease. Not to mention it stays warm when wet...so they advertise?
I've always layered it under my shell as the fabric seems no match for winter branches. It is optimum for a mid layer in all but the coldest temps. But when schlepping in the woods in winter not much more is needed. I've always brought a down vest stuffed in the bottom of my pack for lunch at the top or that emergency layer. Haven't really needed it though.
You won't be disappointed by this jacket. Very versatile and comfortable.
Worn and layered with multiple shells and vests for over a year now. Still looks new.
