So stoked on the SD jacket that I bought one of this hooded SD. Mountain Hardwear rocks!

  • Fabric is not only stretchy and moves with you, but very tear resistant
  • Perfect fit with room for a medium layer
  • Wrist cuff are long enough there's no ride up the arm
  • Very high quality and reasonably lightweight

  • Con? We don't need no stinkin' cons.

After buying a men's small non-hooded SD jacket I liked it so much that I bought the hooded one for those really cold, humid winter winds we have in the NW. I'm 5/8 at 135. My chest is 37.5" and 30" waist with an athletic build. The small is a perfect fit in all of my MH wear; this being no exception.

Regarding the fit though, the non-hooded jacket is a snug fit on the forearms and torso, so great to wear with one thinner layer. This hooded one allows for easy layering of a medium base or a snug fit of a heavier sweater. I like to pair it with an MH men's Butterman Hoody with or without another shirt. The hood has no adjustments, but it fits perfectly with or without an MH Docklands merino wool watch cap or a thick lambswool trapper hat. I like that I can zip it up to my nose and the elastic around the hood seals out all wind quite right.

It's my favorite of the five down jackets I have even though it's the lighter one of two hooded jackets I own; the other is a Peak Performance Ilma.
