Cons
- None at all
After finally getting some snow my wife and I decided to get the snowshoes out and go for a walk but, sadly, the bindings on hers had cracked and broken in several places. I thought it would mean a new pair and I'm not sure how but I found mtnsoles.com. They sell, among other things, replacement bindings for Atlas and Tubbs snowshoes.
My wife's Atlas 725s are about 20 years old and so I was pleasantly surprised to see an option to replace her bindings. The price is less than half of what a new pair of snowshoes would cost and the frame and deck on hers were still in excellent shape, so it seemed a shame not to take advantage of the option to repair them. I read pretty carefully to be sure I had the right ones and once ordered, they arrived in just a few days.
The instructions were great! Easy to understand and it took less than 15 minutes from start to finish for both snowshoes. We were out the next day and the report from her was good traction and they felt, "Good as new."
Sadly, the snow melted days after it fell so there hasn't been much snowshoeing this winter. At least the hiking has been good. And the bindings should last a long time. I can't recommend these highly enough. We saved money and kept stuff out of the landfill and it is a great feeling to be able to fix an old bit of gear and keep on using it. Saving a couple hundred bucks wasn't horrible either.
