Mountainsmith Apex 75

rated 4.5 of 5 stars
photo: Mountainsmith Apex 75 expedition pack (70l+)

I purchased this pack at a promo price and put it to the test fully loaded and off trail in the Sierra high country. I did not think a pack under $200 could perform well and be comfortable in every condition but this one surprised me. This pack can be loaded for long expeditions or for a weekend and will stay balanced and won't feel heavy. The Apex 75 is built to last and it's another gem from Mountainsmith.

The only reason I don't give it a 5 star rating is the side pockets are a tad small and the extra zipper to the gear compartment is unnecessary and adds weight. Everything else is efficient and you will love the features such as ski, poles, ice axe, and shovel carrying ability all at the same time.

Design: top load internal frame pack
Size: 75 liter
Number of Pockets: multiple
Max. Load Carried: 50 lbs.
Height of Owner: 5' 9"
