Here's what other sites are saying:
An ultralight essential for minimalists, thru-hikers and long-distance trekkers, the MSR Thru-Hiker 70 Wing shelter shields you from wind and rain with minimal impact on your total backpack weight.
The MSR Thru-Hiker 70 Wing Shelter is an ultralight shelter for small groups. Large enough to protect against wind and rain for 1-3 people, yet ultralight enough (1 lb) so it won't weigh down your pack. You can set this up quickly with trekking or accessory poles (sold separately), or get creative with the surrounding trees. Features of the MSR Thru-Hiker 70 Wing Shelter Rainfly: 20D Ripstop nylon Xtreme Shield coated
Minimalist backpackers and ultralight enthusiasts will appreciate the simple and lightweight design of the MSR Thru-Hiker Tarp. The Thru-Hiker comes in two sizes with the smaller 70 Wing option capable of sleeping two to three people and the larger 100 Wing option capable of comfortably sleeping three. The non-freestanding design means you'll need to either set the tarp up with trekking poles, accessory poles (sold separately), or between trees, but you'll still be snug as a bug in a rug, even if the weather gets unpleasant, because the tarp is made from lightweight 20D ripstop nylon that has been treated with a Xtreme coating, which repels water. You can also pitch your tarp above MSR's Thru-Hiker Mesh House (not included) when bugs are an issue. The best part of the Thru-Hiker is it weighs right around a pound and packs down small, so you'll hardly notice it in your pack when you set out to beat your own personal record on the JMT or Pacific Crest Trail.
MSR Camp & Hike Thru-Hiker 70 Wing Amber 10827. The 70 Wing accommodates 1-3 people and weighs as little as .38 kg (12 oz) while the 100 Wing offers ample room for 3 backpackers at a minimum weight of only .49 kg (1 lb 1 oz). Use a wing shelter by itself on a fastpacking trip along the John Muir Trail or pair one with the Thru-Hiker Mesh House 2 or 3 (sold separately) for added wind and rain protection on a long-haul trip up the Continental Divide.
