Who turned off the lights? I can't see what I am typing... Ah, that's better I can see now thanks to the Go Green Led Light Switch.

Yes, another review of a different kind of LED light. No, this is not the kind of light that you are going to go hiking with, nor are you going to wear it on your head and you're not even going to put it in your backpack.

Ok, so why then review on an outdoor online website? This LED switch light is the first light I use on my outdoor adventures. If you are like me, most of your gear is in the trunk if not the back seat. If your vehicle is like mine, then your trunk's light and backseat lights are so dim that you can barely see anything in those areas.

These LED lights are also great for car camping, campsite camping, and RV's and rental cabins. At 400 lumens you are guaranteed to find what you are looking for and to see where you are going.

Pros

  • Bright at 400 lumens
  • Multiple ways to attach to surfaces
  • Easy flip switch to turn on/off
  • Uses standard AA batteries

Cons

  • Too bulky and heavy to use for hiking
  • Adhesive strips too flimsy
  • Battery life
  • Not dimmable
  • Can't control individual LED strip

Unless you are arriving at your destination by horseback, then you are like me, arriving at the campsite, log cabin, rental RV, or designated parking spot in your automobile. When you get out of your vehicle you are not wearing any gear or outer clothing and you need to start getting your gear out of your trunk and or backseat. Your overhead lights and trunk lights are probably as crappy as mine are too.

For me the GO GREEN LED Light Switch was a game changer. I attached additional Velcro strips  and a  magnet strip to these Go Green switches and attach these LED lights by mounting it via Velcro to the ceiling of my SUV (most ceilings are fabric that the Velcro automatically attaches to).

Once I got everything out of the backseat I then take the light and open the back trunk door and mount it to either the ceiling again via Velcro or the trunk door via magnetic strip. This LED light has saved me a lot of time searching for my gear and clothing.

Photo of back showing the placement of the 4 AA battery compartments, and the double sided 3M adhesive strips and 2 circular holes for the magnets to be attached. This can even be attached to surfaces using a screw.

Since you can attach magnetic strips to these, you can easily attach them to your car or truck giving you an even larger area of view than just using your headlights while you sort your gear and securing it to your backpack at nighttime.

Whenever I rent a log cabin or RV, they always seem to have a burned out light bulb here and there, or low watt light bulbs that make it hard to see, and in some cabins, no electricity at all. The GO GREEN LED Light Switch is a simple, easy to use solution in these cases. I usually bring several with me and place one in the closet, one next to the bed so I have light when needed, and I always put one in the outhouse (although I do not always bring that one back home lol).

The Go Green turned on. Didn't even need to take it out to dinner and a movie first.

Whether you are using the Go Green Led Light Switch at night to get your gear out of your trunk or backseat, or using it to see while you are unpacking your vehicle and loading your gear onto your back or using it at your campsite, cabin, RV, outhouse or as an emergency light at home for when the power goes out, you will be illuminated by the experience... literally and figuratively.

Background

The local hardware store had a going-out-of-business sale and I was able to pick several of these up for 75% off. I am no stranger to flashlights and have repaired, modified, and even built my own flashlights from scratch (have metal shop experience and electrical and electronic training).

This product is literally a light switch that actually shines on its' own. It is definitely not convenient to carry around but that is not what it is designed for. This LED switch can be permanently mounted or temporarily attached so you can move it all around your location.

I have used these LED light switches at home (mounted to my refrigerator incase of a blackout , in my closets that have no light fixtures, and random locations as a emergency back up light including my SUV.

In the outdoors I have used these at my grandparents former log cabin in upstate NY near Hunter, and at rental cabins and RVs at Bear Mountain Campgrounds in upstate NY. It is the 1st light I turn on at night when I get out of bed when I am campsite camping.

Sadly all of the different companies out there that have made this LED light have the same main problem. The adhesive double sided tapes and the magnetic strips tend to be lacking in functionality but luckily I live not too far away form a home depot - problem solved
