Inexpensive boots that you can winterize.
Pros
- Inexpensive
- When sealed with Sno Seal, they become much better looking and last longer
Cons
- Laces need to be double knotted
- Not real hiking boots
Ozark Trail Men's Bronte Hiking Shoe
After five years of almost daily use in all weather, these inexpensive boots just keep going. They fit comfortably and after sealing with SNO-SEAL and replacing the laces with longer laces, these boots work very well.
They are light and you can get Microspikes on and off them easily.
Not insulated, but I use them all winter except when the snow is very deep.
They don't have aggressive VIBRAM soles and I would not use these for hiking the White Mountains in N.H. but for walking on groomed trails and everyday use they are better than you would think for a forty dollar boot.
