rated 5 of 5 stars I bought this pack for the following reasons: 1) Light: it was the lightest pack I could possible find in this volume (52 Liters, 1.6kg or 58 Liters, 1.7kg). 2) No bells and whistles: there are no extra compartments, no external zipper other than the one on the pack lid. Obviously these things would contribute to the weight of the pack. There are ice axe loops, compression straps and a crampon patch with elastic cord. 3) when alpine climbing with a helmet I can look up, and the helmet will not hit… Full review

rated 4 of 5 stars - rugged. The construction and materials lead me to believe that this pack will outlast me. - cheap @ $170 CDN + applicable tax and shipping - roomy. 75L + an extension collar that adds about 15L - fairly light @ 4.8lbs - comfortable, 45lbs (about 1/4 my weight) carried easily - roomy pocket in the lid - plenty of compression/stabilization straps, floating lid, ice axe loops, shock cord system on the body of the pack - the nearest thing I have to a complaint relates to the side mesh pockets. I guess… Full review

rated 5 of 5 stars I really like this pack. At about 4.5 pounds, it weighs about a pound less than most packs at the 3600 cu. in. size, but the suspension is fantastic. I have overpacked this pack on a couple occasions and never had problems with it. If you don't need a bunch of pockets (I like the cleaner profile for scrambling off trail), you will like this pack. Ordering from MEC gives US customers a break on the exchange rate, too. Don't let the low price fool you, though. This is a well-constructed pack. Full review

Alpine 85

rated 5 of 5 stars After debating between the Arc'teryx Bora 95, and the never before seen Serratus Alpine 85, i decided to take a risk and order a backpack i have never tried on in my life. I chose the Serratus over the Arcteryx for two main reasons. -Better suited for mountaineering gear -Lighter with the same volume and support! I have taken the backpack on several trips now including the summit of Mt. Washington in winter. The waistbelt is wonderfull and more streamlined, giving plenty of space and freedom of… Full review

Alpine Guide 85

rated 5 of 5 stars An excellent value no-frills pack with bomber construction (best stitching I've seen in a pack) top-rate materials (U.S. made high tenacity nylon rip-stop, 1000 dernier cordura bottom, evasote compression molded foam)- a very stable carry due to fixed suspension, but, the flip-side, not much adjustability- the large fit me well, but maybe I just got lucky- if you live near an MEC store you probably should check one out for fit before ordering (although MEC has a liberal exchange policy, so you can… Full review
