Top waterproofing spray-on

Pros

  • This really works
  • Easy to apply
  • No smell
  • Hopefully long-lasting

Cons

  • None that I have found, but expensive to buy

Having tried several products to reproof rain jackets and trousers, none have really hit the jackpot until now. On recommendation from a friend I bought a 500 ml spray canister for my Marmot jacket, which was wetting out.

The jacket had a quick cycle wash in the washing machine with Lux Soap flakes. When dry, I sprayed it with Aqua Armour, thoroughly wetting the fabric. I dried it and 24 hours later reapplied the spray as recommended.

After a further 24 hours, I tried the DWR with a garden hose. Water beaded and just fell off with just a spray function. I put the jacket on and was sprayed with a full jet; again, the water beaded off, and I was dry. Since then It has kept me as dry as a bone yet remains fully breathable.

As far as I am cocerned this is by far the best aftermarket reproofing I have ever tried. The bonus is that I still have half a can of spray left, enough to proof my windshirt.
