rated 5 of 5 stars Lightweight, full-tang lightsaber...I mean survival knife. The F1 is a heavy-duty yet nimble knife with a well-deserved reputation in the global outdoor community. This has been the standard issue survival knife for pilots in the Swedish Air Force since 1995. This is as capable a knife as any I have ever owned, and yet it's so lightweight that I don't hesitate to take it on hiking/backpacking outings. Weighs 6 oz. OAL 3.8" Blade length 3.8" 59 HRC Shaving sharp This knife was the sharpest out-of-the-box… Full review

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Does exactly what I want and need for what I consider to be an essential hiking tool. Safe, reasonably light, durable, and sharp. For those who want a folding knife with a clip, look elsewhere. I consider a good knife to be one of the essential tools of the trade for hiking. There are lots of great options; this one is particularly useful.   Basic Information This knife weighs about 4 1/2 ounces, and the blade is about 3 1/2 inches long. It's a folding knife — the blade folds away when you don't… Full review

DC4 Diamond/Ceramic Whetstone

rated 3.5 of 5 stars It's small, slim so it takes up little space. Will fit on a knife sheath or in a pocket. Best of all, it works well. The DC4 is a great size, no hassle whet stone. Because there is no need for oil or water, this stone is ideal for in the field blade upkeep. It's small enough to replace a whet stone that comes with some knives and fits in the pocket on the sheath but big enough to run a larger blade across without too much hassle. But the best part about the DC4 is that it works! The diamond side… Full review

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Like most guys who saw the movie 'First Blood' I thought an enormous knife is what I needed in a survival scenario. When I started backpacking that went out the window in favor of just a multi-tool or small pocket knife. However, being part backpacker - part survivalist that I am, I also want to be self-sufficient in the woods in case I get lost indefinitely and so I became a student of bushcraft. Enter the Falllkniven NL5, also called the Idun. This is the smallest fixed blade in the Northern… Full review

rated 4.5 of 5 stars My favorite small folding knife for hiking. It's simple, it works, it's practically indestructible. Blade is under three inches long, made of VG-10 stainless steel, which is very hard and stays sharp for a long time. it takes a little longer to sharpen due to the hardness of the steel used for the blade. the handle is two pieces of stainless steel with narrow micarta scales attached by screws. Micarta is hard and basically impossible to break. i love that the back of the knife is open - it's tremendously… Full review
