Forclaz Decathlon Merino Wool Half-Zip Sweater
Go-to camping sweater; simple, yet warm = perfect for activities
Am medium, but had to size up to large (made in China).
Handwashes and hangs well.
With most warm items, handwashing sucks all water up, but doesn't lose its shape when hung dry on line.
Tag is too long and sticks up at back, lol.
Pros
- Simple design
- Washes well
- Hangs to dry well
- Perfect warmth for activities
Cons
- Tag so long it sticks up at back and gets caught in zipper if laid flat
- Still pretty expensive at about $100
- Decathlon site doesn't show my purchases when logged in, so not sure exactly what this sweater is called or how much it costs.
- Must go 1 to 2 sizes up from normal sizing
Oddly, I find the front baffling a strange look and was loathe to spend so much on a sweater that's mildly warm, but it's my camping go-to sweater. And, have received a surprisingly high number of compliments on it.

Hides stains because of colour, and is very comfortable; perfect fit after sizing up. I normally wear men's items because women's are too form-fitting, but men's wouldn't work, so am surprised this fits so well.
Am so surprised at how Decathlon has taken over so much of my camping gear; this sweater, shorts that fit and aren't pink or purple, gloves that actually fit, etc. I'm not a merino wool fan because I just find the warmth just isn't there for my always cold carcass, but this sweater hasn't disappointed in the prairie summer and now fall.
Wash and hang is excellent.
