Whether you're on a full-day tour or freeriding from a heli, the Mammut Ride Protection Airbag 3. 0 Backpack increases backcountry safety so you can ride or ski with greater peace of mind. Since blunt force trauma is responsible for 20% of all avalanche fatalities (from being dragged on the ground or hitting trees and rocks), the Protection Airbag System 3. 0 is designed to shield your head, neck, and vital organs from impacts if you get caught in a slide. With a simple pull of a handle, the bag inflates in three seconds, protecting you from trauma while also keeping you afloat and making you more visible. This pack has enough volume capacity for all your day's gear and the pockets, compartments, and attachment loops to keep them organized and accessible. A helmet, ice axe, skis, snowboard, avy tools, and goggles all have designated storage spots on this pack. And side compression straps keep it nice and streamlined. The adjustable aluminum V-frame delivers strong and lightweight support to place the load on your hips rather than your shoulders. The thermomoldable back makes carrying a full load comfy. This pack is hydration compatible, so you can stay quenched while working hard on the hike and charging downhill. The airbag system is also completely removable, so this pack can be used when traveling in controlled terrain without unnecessary weight holding you back. Please note that this system does not include the Refillable Compressed Air Cartridge, which is available separately (MAM0939). And please remember, this airbag system is NOT a guarantee that you will survive an avalanche; get educated, get the right tools, travel with partners, and be smart out there.
