MEC Talisman Jacket

The Talisman Jacket has been discontinued. If you're looking for something new, check out the best waterproof jackets for 2023.
Excellent jacket that will now be discontinued and replaced by the MEC Aegis Jacket (340 $CDN). A few changes: ampler cut (longer and wider), exclusively MI270 nylon (not ripstop), a collar, stiffened overflaps, integrated mid-height bungee cord (accessed from glove pockets), simpler chaff guard, stiffened visor, new Napoleon pocket, larger glove pockets and a new interior ultrasonic weld pocket.
In my opinion, the changes are well worth it.

Great jacket! Perfect cut, so far it's proven to be very durable. Not too flashy -- looks a bit understated (in color) which makes it good (unlike some other jackets that I've seen) to wear both on the trail and in the city. When looking for a waterproof, breathable jacket in Canada, MEC provided what seemed to be the best value for the money. No regrets -- try it!

This is a great jacket that is going to keep you nice and dry from the rain but doesn't allow your sweat to build up on the inside. I have yet to find any problems with the jacket. I have seen other reviewers complain about the outside pockets being at chest level. I guess they haven't worn their jacket with a backpack, since they would notice the hip belt would cover lower pockets, but chest pockets are easily accesible.
