Decent rain coat, vents well, windproof and lightweight.

Pros

  • Decently water resistant
  • Waterproof pockets
  • Side vents
  • Bargain priced for the quality
  • Great hood
  • Velcro cuffs
  • Zipper storm flap
  • Self stores in a side pocket

Cons

  • Noisy
  • Stiff yet thin fabric
  • No stretch
  • No chest pocket

Got this a couple years ago to replace an old Woolrich rain jacket. It has been so much better in water repelling , but that's to be expected as the old coat was 25 years old. Advances in technology are a good reason to retire the ancient stuff.

This jacket has an excellent hood, big waterproof pockets, velcro cuffs, and side vents as main features. It's stood up to some hard rains and even snow without me getting wet. I haven't used it hiking with a pack yet but without one on local trails and walks it's been awesome.

The two things that have bothered me somewhat is its lack of stretch and the noise it makes. It's not constant but nature photographers and bird watchers might find this is a need to know thing.

It sheds water though like a duck. I even used it while clearing my driveway this winter when we were getting wet snows. Used as a shell over a thick fleece I was toasty and dry. I opened the arm vents to prevent getting too hot and it was perfect.

This is now my dedicated rain coat for hiking, walks, or grocery store trips. It's a good value and versatile.
