Saranac 146

rated 4.5 of 5 stars I chose the Old Town Saranac 146 canoe because of its quality, features, size, and price. Not too small or too big (needed to fit on roof rack w kayak). It's fairly stable and can easily be paddled with a kayak paddle! The padded seats, rod holders and extra storage are nice for extra gear. Plenty of room for 2-3 passengers, poles, tackle, cooler, etc. A quality compact canoe (for the price) that seems very durable. You can't go wrong with legendary Old Town brand quality. My wife and I were looking… Full review

Twin Heron

rated 5 of 5 stars Old Town produced a great family recreational kayak in the Twin Heron. Excellent learning kayak and wonderful for a quiet day on lake or stream. I've paddled most of my life and this is the most comfortable kayak or canoe I've had. Visited the Old Town factory in Maine and found a great deal on a Twin Heron kayak. Couldn't wait to get it in the water! This 60-pound kayak is easy to handle out of the water with two carry handles and lots of places to grab when you lift it onto a vehicle. Unique colors… Full review

Pack

rated 4 of 5 stars A great little boat. Great for fishing and putzing around. Tough and strong. Light, light, light! More room than a kayak I bought my Pack from a big sporting store that is undergoing changes. This was before that, about five years ago. I offered them $400. It had a disfigured gunnel, but I figured it wouldn't be a problem and it wasn't. It's Roylex and 33 lbs. I just throw it in the truck and go. Carries my 300 lbs well. My knee went out two years ago and when I had to carry it up the hill from… Full review

Penobscot 16

rated 2 of 5 stars Good on flat lakes and easy to paddle, but will swamp easily due to the shallow rocker in large standing waves. We rented the canoe and were very happy until we hit some rapids with very large standing waves. The canoe quickly swamped and we were swimming. Friends in a Nova Craft had no problems.   Full review

Pack

rated 3 of 5 stars Very lightweight, stable, car-top boat perfect for solo paddling or fishing in calmer waters. Bought mine new ~1998, still using it for myself and two dogs.  Two best features are 1) lightweight—I (5'5" woman) can handle it alone, and 2) car top—I can easily load and strap it (2 straps, 1 rope to front of car) on car factory roof rack (well within weight limits) and head to lake—no truck, trailer, or special after-market roof rack required. It fits inside my one-car garage ceiling, easily… Full review
