Patagonia.com says:
All-season long, starting with first tracks and ending with mud-bog approaches, the Backcountry Guides tough it out with the tireless backcountry skier and mountaineer. They're made with a durable, midweight Polartec(R) Power Shield(R) nylon/polyester/spandex stretch-woven blend with Hardface(R) Technology that dramatically improves the Deluge(R) DWR (durable water repellent) finish's resistance to wind, water, snow and abrasion - all while remaining stretchy and highly breathable. Features include zippered thigh vents (with mesh) for temperature regulation; a low-profile waist with an adjustable, built-in belt; a 2-way zippered fly for easy harness-wearing relief; one thigh and two handwarmer pockets (all zippered); articulated knees and a brushed interior for next-to-skin comfort. The gusseted, zippered cuffs have 2-position snaps, edge guards and internal mini-gaiters.
