SPOT Personal Tracker

rated 0.5 of 5 stars Decent product, crooked company. Got the SPOT secondhand. Activated at about $150, which was decent. It was great to have for communicating with my wife regarding my trip status and whereabouts. One year later, SPOT charges my CC $230 for the exact same service with absolutely no warning. Apparently, if you use their device you agree to their terms and conditions. The terms and conditions include: auto-renewal, increase in fees, no refunds, and negative credit reporting if you fail to pay. Oh, and… Full review

SPOT Personal Tracker

rated 5 of 5 stars 15,000 miles, 31 countries, and the Spot Tracker performed really well. From remote areas to urban concrete jungles it never failed me. I used the Tracker on a recent trip so that people could follow live via the Tracker's webpage. 15,000 miles, 31 countries in 21 days and it performed very well. The only issues I had were batteries as I didn't have the space to carry supplies. I had no dead spots and the customized messages came in handy to let people know I was OK.  Full review

SPOT Personal Tracker

rated 5 of 5 stars Death comes to those that are not prepared. If you want to get lost and die then do not buy. If you want your life and want your stuff then this is for you. I am 78 years old and a rather disabled old lady. I like to drive thru Death Valley and there are lots of places with no cell service. My daughter always knows how to track me and if I spend too long in any one spot she can send help. We have a two hour agreement on how long is too long.   Spot is even great in town where there is cell service. Full review

Spot Gen3

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Excellent insurance for the solo hiker, hunter, or fisher(person). I am a solo hiker, hunter, and fisherman who needs some insurance against accidents in the wild. I live within half an hour of the national forest, but if I got lost or had a serious accident off the trail, the results could be catastrophic without a GPS locating device. I've used the SPOT 3 twice this summer and find its periodic reporting of my precise location very satisfactory. Full review

SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger

rated 5 of 5 stars It's small and rugged and puts out a strong signal to a satellite. If you hike alone or with other people it provides a check in ok-help or SOS. It's best made for anyone who travels the backcountry, whether you are in a car or on your feet. I highly recommend this product. I'm in the woods a lot, it may be backpacking for 5 days, an overnighter, or just a day hike. I bought the Spot Messenger for two reasons. One is to let people know where I'm at and if something happens, minor accidents or a… Full review
