Just an FYI that other reviewers didn't mention. The hip belt unsnaps and combines with top pocket to make a large and extremely comfortable fanny-pack type wearable for those day hikes and peak summits from base camp. If you can find one, mine is still going strong in 2020 after 25 years of abuse.

  • Extremely durable canvas and zippers compared to modern materials.

  • Not as many pockets / compartments as newer packs.

Very old pack.

Over 200 hikes with this pack.

Welcome to Trailspace, Landon!

Carries nicely at 50 lbs, and good pockets with the sleeping bag compartment un-zipable to make a continuous space. Well padded harness and shoulder straps. I carried waders, boots, flys and a tent and big pot and stove—90 liters.

  • Sized to carry large loads
  • Comfortable
  • Sturdy

  • A little heavy

Welcome to Trailspace, Harry. I'm not familiar with this older pack. How long have you had and used yours?

I have used (abused) my Trigon Deva on multi-day trips in the North Cascades and the Grand Canyon. Excellent backpack but now beat up and retired in favor of a Gregory Z55.

Design: top loading
Number of Pockets: one with top pocket
Max. Load Carried: 45 lbs
Height of Owner: 5'11"

I have one of the original models, and it is my understanding that Trigon has recently gone out of business. This is too bad, because it is a wonderful pack. I have seen some still in stores.

It adjusts easily, and is extremely comfortable. Mine has held up well in some relatively harsh conditions. One minor seam did rip out near the top of the frame, but it has caused no problems and has not expanded. A nice feature is a small pocket within the top pocket that I use to keep my keys and wallet.

If you can find one, I certainly recommend checking it out.
