No matter if you’re walking, skiing or climbing in the mountains, the Windsack provides an excellent – and portable – chance to avoid the elements: simply deploy it from its stuff sack, and hunker down out of the wind to enjoy a meal or a rest break. You will be most comfortable if you either dig down into the snow or find a place that is already somewhat out of the wind.
More importantly, the Windsack is an emergency shelter. As a refuge from a sudden winter storm, its highly wind- and water repellent fabric keeps the weather out while providing a relative degree of comfort, and its bright red color is highly visible from a distance or from the air. The Windsack also works as a bivy bag for one to three people (although in heavy rain, it will provide less protection).
