This is a small lightweight ferro rod and striker on a lanyard. I would recommend this item for an emergency situation, ie bug out bag, get home bag, or backup in hiking/camping gear. So I picked this item up from Amazon mainly due to the price. However, I was very pleased with the product. It appears to be well made and does throw a good amount of sparks. It is only 1/4" diameter, so if you are needing something bigger, this isn't for you. But for an emergency fire starter or a backup fire starter,… Full review
This is a good quality knife that's better for bushcraft and not your best choice for ultralight hiking. When I first received this knife my initial impression was that the blade was about the length I like at 6 inches (165 mm) cutting edge and it had a nice choil, but it was wider though at 1.25 inches (33 mm) edge to spine and 1/4 inch (6.4 mm) thick than I was used to and then there was the weight at 18 ounces. This product can best be utilized by someone stuck out on the trail. The Schrade multi tool has the equipment to get a hiker out of trouble. I love that it has a compartment for a lighter that keeps the lighter out of the weather. I have been impressed with the ability of the small saw. The knife is not the best, but it would do if in a jam I suppose. The fact that it holds all of the needed emergency tools in one is a great feature. It has a signal mirror, compass, laser light, lighter compartment,… Full review
This knife requires work to make it great. First thing is to file to the jimping so you can actually hold it without real discomfort and then complete removal of the awful powder coating to reveal a proper looking blade and great aesthetics. Not done the patina bit yet as enjoying the shine of the carbon steel. Not as sharp as reviews said and not being the best sharpener, I am struggling with the included diamond sharpener, however, it NOW looks great. Much better than out of the box and I mean… Full review
Best survival knife for the price. I bought the first one 4 years ago and loved it. It surpassed my expectations for a heavy duty survival knife. They were hard to find for a year or so, but when they came back on the market, I purchased a second one. Full review
