Relaxing on the Pinnell Mountain Trail in Alaska.

Trailspace community members may have noticed me around the site more often in the past few months — posting reviews, chatting in forums, and posting dispatches from Outdoor Retailer.

Though I've worked with Dave and Alicia for some time, I'm excited to be joining the Trailspace team in a more official capacity, as your new Community Evangelist.

Long ago, I dedicated my life to experiencing as much of this planet as possible under my own power, and helping others to do the same. In my career, I've worked with outdoor industry companies and nonprofits dedicated to helping people get outside, but I've never found a community of like-minded people so vibrant, active, and engaged as I have here. It's a pleasure to be part of the Trailspace community, and it is now an honor for me to serve you.

So what will I be working on? My title, Community Evangelist, is a little ironic, considering that I'm a not-too-religious guy from Maine, but it's a really accurate description of what I'll be doing. I'll serve you as a resource, helping Trailspace be the most inclusive, informative, interesting online community of human-powered backcountry adventure enthusiasts.

I'll be looking at ways that we can engage the power of the Trailspace community in the world to protect and promote the places we love to explore, reaching out to current and potential members, and nonprofit partners. And yes, I will “evangelize” to others about the virtues of the Trailspace community.

Seriously — where else can I admire pictures of someone's antique boot collection, learn about ways to protect access to climbing areas, and see reviews of cutting-edge gear? I'll continue to coordinate the Review Corps program, and Dave promises that if there are coffee-related products to be reviewed, I have dibs on testing those.

If you'd like to know anything about me, or have ideas to share, please join the conversation in our forums, on Facebook, or in a comment below. I'm looking forward to working on your behalf!
