Mountainsmith Epic

photo: Mountainsmith Epic lumbar/hip pack

Mountainsmith proclaims the Epic, a running and fast-hiking pack, to be “the most comfortable, stable, and functional lumbar pack to ever see the trail.” The technical lumbar pack utilizes Mountainsmith’s Air-Flow Back Suspension System, a four-point compression system for stability that creates a separation between your back and the pack for breathability during aerobic activities.

The Epic has a one-liter (32-oz), roll-top, Hydrapak No-Slosh reservoir built in, clip-on attachment point and elastic sleeve for gel flasks, flapped mesh pocket for energy bars or electronics, internal padded MP3/iPod sleeve with cord port, reflective highlights, white interior lining for visibility, and internal organizer panel. It also has a waist belt tail management system and is constructed of 210 high-tenacity Cordura, neoprene, and synthetic leather.
