Sawyer Permethrin Insect Repellent Treatment for Clothing, Gear, and Tents

rated 5 of 5 stars Love, love, love this stuff! Keeps bugs and ticks away. No smell for hunting. Lasts many, many days on treated garments and gear. This is a MUST for the outdoorsman or outdoorswoman! Much better than stinky, dangerous DEET. Can also use on pets. Full review

Thermacell Backpacker Mosquito Repeller

rated 5 of 5 stars Love this product! A real lifesaver when camping, fishing, hunting, picnicking, and fixing fence in tall weeds on our farm! Would definitely recommend this to anyone who would like to enjoy their outdoor activities without pesky bugs! Full review

BioLite Headlamp 330

rated 4 of 5 stars Thin, light, balanced, rechargeable, bounce-free—put the Headlamp 330 on the buy-list. The technology is advanced enough that rechargeable headlamps are finally a good deal. You can't get this much light in this small of a package anyplace else so far. Remember when a 90-lumen headlamp was the best thing ever? Say hello to 330! Winter is a time when runners have to run in the dark to get their miles in. Short days mean you need a headlamp. Most flashlights and headlamps are little more than a… Full review

Snowline Chainsen Pro

rated 5 of 5 stars I found myself crawling uphill on all fours through icy snow—not even trying to use the glass-slick trails—and headed right out to buy these. Absolutely love 'em. But who carries them? I got the last pair at Sierra, and I want some for my wife. Very good traction on hard ice and packed snow. Full review

Kahtoola NANOspikes

rated 4 of 5 stars Love em. I've worn these both hiking and running and they worked great. They are comfortable and the spikes are hardly noticeable. The only downside is they shift to the side, so be prepared to adjust them occasionally. Full review

Light & Motion Solite 150

rated 4 of 5 stars Highly recommended after several tests outdoor (several days of hiking in the German Alps). I disagree with the first review: I consider it an absolute PLUS to be able to charge via USB. Take a power bank and charge the Solite as often as needed on a trip of several days. Everyone has multiple wall plug adaptors already, so why should LightnMotion provide another? Full review

Kahtoola MICROspikes

rated 5 of 5 stars My wife and I spent a week in the Smokies at the Wilderness Hike Week event January 23-28. The area received several inches of rain then snow followed on the evening of the 23rd, then it was bitterly cold on the 24th. We led a hike up the Ramsay Cascades Trail on the 24th, which was very icy, especially near the cascades themselves. Others without spikes were having a lot of problem and one person slipped into the creek. Brenda and I had no problem at all. We had eight folks on that hike. We also… Full review

Kahtoola MICROspikes

rated 4.5 of 5 stars I thru-hiked the PCT last year and bought the Kahtoola Microspikes in Lone Pine at a known gear shop. These were amazing. Be sure to buy the correct size. I learned at the gear shop that the cleats should not be loose. This means that they may be a tight fit, but things wear in over time. Also, they should last around four seasons. When putting them on start from the top of your shoe and pull/follow the bands on both sides with your hands to the back of the shoe. Do not allow the red band to be… Full review

Kahtoola MICROspikes

rated 4.5 of 5 stars When snowshoes are too much, but you need a little extra confidence on firm snow and ice, these provide the perfect bite. There I was at the Echo Lake Sno-park near Lake Tahoe. I hadn't been snowshoeing in a couple of seasons, and had vowed this would be a winter I would get out! And it was a beautiful day in perfect conditions. I pulled out my trusty MSR snowshoes, and as I put them on, I realized that the binding straps had some cracks in them, and all four of them snapped before I even got them… Full review
