rated 4 of 5 stars Thin, light, balanced, rechargeable, bounce-free—put the Headlamp 330 on the buy-list. The technology is advanced enough that rechargeable headlamps are finally a good deal. You can't get this much light in this small of a package anyplace else so far. Remember when a 90-lumen headlamp was the best thing ever? Say hello to 330! rated 5 of 5 stars I found myself crawling uphill on all fours through icy snow—not even trying to use the glass-slick trails—and headed right out to buy these. Absolutely love 'em. Kahtoola NANOspikes

rated 4 of 5 stars Love em. I've worn these both hiking and running and they worked great. They are comfortable and the spikes are hardly noticeable. The only downside is they shift to the side, so be prepared to adjust them occasionally. Full review

Light & Motion Solite 150

rated 4 of 5 stars Highly recommended after several tests outdoor (several days of hiking in the German Alps). I disagree with the first review: I consider it an absolute PLUS to be able to charge via USB. Take a power bank and charge the Solite as often as needed on a trip of several days. Everyone has multiple wall plug adaptors already, so why should LightnMotion provide another? Full review

The area received several inches of rain then snow followed on the evening of the 23rd, then it was bitterly cold on the 24th. We led a hike up the Ramsay Cascades Trail on the 24th, which was very icy, especially near the cascades themselves. Kahtoola MICROspikes

rated 4.5 of 5 stars I thru-hiked the PCT last year and bought the Kahtoola Microspikes in Lone Pine at a known gear shop. These were amazing. Be sure to buy the correct size. I learned at the gear shop that the cleats should not be loose. This means that they may be a tight fit, but things wear in over time. Also, they should last around four seasons. rated 4.5 of 5 stars When snowshoes are too much, but you need a little extra confidence on firm snow and ice, these provide the perfect bite. There I was at the Echo Lake Sno-park near Lake Tahoe. I hadn't been snowshoeing in a couple of seasons, and had vowed this would be a winter I would get out! And it was a beautiful day in perfect conditions.
