Pieps DSP Sport

rated 2 of 5 stars This beacon worked amazing for my first few tests and practices. Intuitive arrows, large screen, the beacon itself feels manufactured of high grade plastic. In my fourth practice session the safety leash broke out of the housing. This is a serious safety concern. A lost beacon could result in a lost life. Full review

Backcountry Access Tracker DTS

rated 5 of 5 stars The best avalanche beacon I have used. This is the simplest, most functional avalanche beacon I have ever used. You can pull it out of the box with zero experience in using a beacon and feel like a pro within 5 minutes. On top of that, it's reasonably priced and easy to find. The harness is super easy to put on and is barely noticeable. The range is good. There's not much else to say — it's the ideal beacon. I love this thing. 100% recommended. Mammut Pulse Barryvox

rated 5 of 5 stars It works. Have carried mine for 3 years. Replaced batteries every year though they still show 85%. Good range when tested on buried beacons. I like the one hand to turn on, two hands to turn off feature. Fits in a pocket well. Has adequate leash. Full review

Backcountry Access Tracker 2

rated 4.5 of 5 stars This is such a simple transceiver to use. I'd recommend it for any recreational user. It's also commonly used by ski patrollers. This transceiver is very simple to use and that's what makes it so great. When I do practices with friends with other digital units, they seem to get hung up on other features and confused about how to interpret what the transceiver is telling them. This is due to not practicing enough, but with the Tracker 2, it is far more intuitive and even without much practice can… Full review

Ortovox D1 Doggy Transmitter

rated 5 of 5 stars I use the Ortovox doggy transmitter 150 - 200 times a year to find my dogs below ground, and with a Strongstuff dog collar it's the most safe way to work my terriers. Full review

Backcountry Access Tracker DTS

rated 5 of 5 stars There is a reason that this beacon is #1. It is very inexpensive and easy to use. It has a great range of up to 50 meters in my experience. It's quick and easy, and worth the money. You won't be sorry with this beacon. -mark Full review

Ortovox D3

rated 4.5 of 5 stars This is one of the easiest transceivers I have ever used. With the directional lights, sound and number indicators, it makes searching simple and fast. I like the holster because it fits snugly against your body and makes it quick and easy to remove when switching to search mode. It is also easy to switch from transmit to search and has a much faster response time then some of the other brands I have tried. I highly recommend this product to all my backcountry friends. Update: March 18, 2009 Easy… Full review

Ortovox S1

rated 5 of 5 stars The best beacon I have ever used! Combing digital and analog technology for a fully function avalanche tool that includes multiple signal identification and separation, depth perception, a graphics display that is easy to see with sun glasses on and the simplistic operate. Open the beacon up to switch to receive mode, look and hear then follow the screen icons to directly over the buried victim. It calculates flux lines and brings you directly to the victim. at 3 meters it switches to a focused… Full review
