- REI

Out of the massive collection of backpacking tents, Scout tents, and carbon-poled shelters from Big Agnes, the Scout 2 Carbon Tent is by far the lightest single-wall, non-freestanding shelter available. It only weighs eleven ounces and packs down to the size of a water bottle. Despite its lightness, Dyneema fabric keeps the Scout surprisingly durable for how little the tent weighs, although a footprint (sold separately) is highly recommended. Dyneema is also ruggedly rainproof for three-season weather protection. The Scout 2 incorporates trekking poles as the main frame for backpacking minimalists. That, coupled with the pre-cut guylines, makes set-up quick and seamless so you can spend less time organizing camp and more time watching the sunset over that alpine lake or sandstone tower. The single-wall design also incorporates 3-D bin pockets to help organize climbing or backpacking gear before and after heading out for your next project or trek.
