Ranger Grip 71 Gardener

rated 4.5 of 5 stars The RangerGrip 71 is an excellent purpose-built multi-tool for the gardener or hiker not bothered by a bit of extra weight who wants to do a lot of wood-processing/cutting related camp chores. The quality and design are what one has grown to expect from the Swiss Army Knife brands, and this particular model features a most impressive scissors. Not an every-day carry, but great to have if it suits your tasks. Specs: Height: 1.1 in Length: 5.1 in (closed) 8.9 in (open) Weight: 7.7 oz (weighed in… Full review

SwissChamp SOS Set

rated 3.5 of 5 stars The SwissChamp SOS Kit is a brilliant multi-tool paired with a curious array of supplemental tools, packaged together and labeled for survival. If you accept that the kit is a bit gimmicky but built around a rock-solid SwissChamp tool, you can adapt the kit to contain your own deliberate survival tool choices. What’s in the Box The SwissChamp Survival-Kit SOS-Set is a survival-focused kit that combines the SwissChamp (the flagship Swiss Army Officer’s Knife from maker Victorinox) with a series… Full review

rated 5 of 5 stars I grabbed this little guy to fill in a few of the tools the Farmer didn't have. Also it's just a nice handy little knife. You can see mine here on my Keychain of survival. My Farmer was missing a few items like a file, toothpick, tweezers, and scissors so I grabbed this little guy to fill those gaps. I love the setup. I got all I could need and nothing more. I can walk out of the house and take on almost any task that may come my way. Full review

rated 5 of 5 stars This can be picked up on Amazon for $30 and I recommend everyone has one for day hikes to long hauls. It and an Exotac fire starter are indispensable! I wouldn't say or recommend it be your only knife, but this is one you should have. I even teamed mine up with a smaller one so I'd have the scissors, toothpick, and tweezers. With those three items there isn't much I can't do in a jam. I picked mine up on Amazon. As a knife nut it was a must-have. After using it  it quickly became my always-on-me… Full review

rated 3.5 of 5 stars This little knife takes care of jobs that are too small for a regular camp knife. It won't split wood, but it's great for opening food packages and cutting up moleskin. The Swiss Army Rambler knife descends from the Classic knife, which is one item that everyone has either owned or at least seen at some point in their life.  At 2.25" long and only 1.1 oz, it's also one of those items that's easy to tuck away somewhere.   DESIGN:  The Swiss Army Classic Knife uses a toned-down version of the… Full review

Outdoor Retailer: Building a Victorinox Swiss Army Knife -- by hand
Anyone with twenty-five dollars to spare can go out and buy a Victorinox Spartan multi-tool. But, making your own by hand? That's priceless. I was lucky enough to make my own Spartan, thanks to Victorinox's Brian Ordway who patiently walked me through the process at Outdoor Retailer. Read more
