Rab Batura Jacket

Looking for a durable, seriously warm, water resistant down jacket and weight isn't a deal-breaker? Rab’s Batura II may just fit the bill. Bought the Batura II in XL size(containing nearly 480g fill-weight of down) in the Black colour with Horizon (Red) details for planned autumn/winter sub-polar and mountain expeditions. Down The Batura II uses over 450grams fill-weight(in size Large) of 800 fill-power(by US standards. Equating to approx. 743 fill-power per EU rating) of RDS certified, Fluorocarbon-free,… Full review

Mountain Equipment Men's K7 Jacket

This is a serious winter parka that’s very well-made. With about 3/4 lb. of extremely high quality/high fill power goose down, it’ll keep you warm. After suffering a couple of weeks last winter with many minus 15° to 20°F days, I researched, bought, and evaluated most of the leading down jackets and parkas available. Budget limit was around $500. With few American exceptions, eg: Western Mountaineering and Feathered Friends, I quickly found that most of the best stuff comes from England. Mountain… Full review

Outdoor Research Men's Transcendent Down Jacket

So many features! Highly recommended. So many features! Pockets all over the place and still a great weight. I love the colour and it packs very small. This is the only down jacket I tried where the sleeves can be pushed past my elbows for added temperature regulation. Full review

Canada Goose Camp Hoody

Awesome color, bad insulation. For $525, you'd expect to be warm in 30-degree weather. You can pay significantly less and get a 15-degree warmer jacket. Full review

Helly Hansen Men's Verglas Light Jacket

The Helly Hansen Verglas Light Jacket is a hybrid soft shell (double weave) and down insulated (800 fill goose down) midlayer meant to bridge the gap between changing weather fronts during high output activities like hiking, trekking, ski touring, and mountaineering. Initially, my main concerns with this jacket resulted from an overly large fit which limited versatility and restricted its uses to an emergency or ultralight top layer in warmer conditions. I highly recommend sizing down, as I ended… Full review

Outdoor Research Men's Illuminate Down Hoody

SO light and SO compressible! I wish it weren't quite SO drafty. Down is great. 800 fill down is next-level great. I bring down into the mountains nearly every time I go. It's light, breathable, compacts to nothing, insulates better than anything, and lasts decades.   When it comes to down, 800 fill down is some of the best in terms of loft, compressibility, and warmth. Outdoor Research also makes sure that its down is responsibly sourced, something that really makes a difference when you learn… Full review

Eddie Bauer Men's First Ascent Peak XV Down Jacket

An exceptional buy WHEN PURCHASED ON A SALE. Several good design features, but lacking a robust inside zipper baffle. I wanted a fully baffled expedition level parka that was helmet compatible so I could use my ski helmet at alpine resorts on very cold days. The fit was very good for me, a 5'10" 185 lb. male. Construction quality is top notch as are the materials. The outer shell is a Cordura brand with a small diamond pattern woven in and it is quite tough from my experience catching it on a broken… Full review

Arc'teryx Men's Thorium AR Hoody

A very durable, exceptionally warm hoody that excels in the right conditions. One of the perks of your friends knowing you like to walk in the dirt is gift cards. I'm not prone to dropping 300 bucks on a jacket but having moved to the mountains and wanting a piece I could wear both on the trail (in the right conditions) and day to day I pulled the trigger on the Arc'teryx Thorium AR. (On sale) Score. I own a couple of other Arc'teryx pieces and so I assumed the quality, durability, and fit would… Full review

The North Face Men's Diameter Down Hybrid Jacket

Jacket ripped first time skiing with no significant falls. Warranty process non-existent. Buyer beware. Bought the North Face Diameter Down jacket while traveling through Paris. First problem arose when I wanted to swap sizes, only to be told you can't swap items between different North Face stores. Thereafter, took the jacket out skiing/snowboarding for the first time two weeks later and it ripped without any significant falls. Jacket is now completely useless. North Face customer care and warranty… Full review
