LifeStraw Go

rated 4.5 of 5 stars I used this when i was out there for three days. No issues, as long as I found water to fill it! Never got sick, although it didn't make the clean water all taste awesome. It works, stayed in one piece well, sealed well, didn't shatter when I fell on it. Full review

CamelBak All Clear

rated 5 of 5 stars I lived in Mexico in a town that got its water from a lake. The water was not safe to drink so I used the Camelbak All Clear. I never got sick. I also use a Katadyn Pocket Filter when I need to get rid of all the solids. I have traveled to Mexico and Peru where the water quality is less than superb. If you drink the water that is untreated, you will get Montezuma's Revenge. I also have a carrier for the bottle. I am glad I bought this unit as it sure saved me a lot of running to the bathroom. Katadyn BeFree 0.6L

rated 3.5 of 5 stars Instant water filtering—but be gentle! The filter itself is a great piece of gear. Yes, the flow will be reduced as it gets used, but I can overlook that shortcoming due to the convenience of simply squishing the flask for a drink of clean water. What is not acceptable is that my first trip out the flask developed a pinhole leak at a seemingly random location—not on a seam nor corner. Thankfully, it didn't affect my ability to use it. I just learned where the leak was and put my thumb over it. Full review

Sawyer MINI

rated 4 of 5 stars Super lightweight, but needs to be backwashed often so the syringe adds weight. It also dispenses slowly. However, it is very versatile and easy to use. I used this on a weekender trip to a GA state park. I decided to pick up a 1L reservoir instead of using the small included pouch. I'd imagine the pouch would be very difficult to get water from streams. I was able to drink straight from the spout, so I didn't have to wait for water when I was already thirsty. However the water does come out slowly. Full review

Sawyer Select S2

rated 3 of 5 stars The Sawyer Select series is a new line of purifiers/filters that offers a variety of contaminant removal, depending on one’s needs. All three models remove chemicals to .5 ppb (parts per billion), and pesticides to .01 ppb. The S2 is designed to remove 99.99% of viruses. The Sawyer Micro Squeeze filter can be used without the purifier to a .1 Micron level. This filter system is best for travelers that aren't concerned about the very lightest products available. Sawyer’s new Select Series is… Full review

Sawyer Select S1

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Great product. Easy to use and serves as a lightweight purification method. Wow, what an easy to use and effective lightweight water purification method. Great for the individual for backpacking and hiking. Full review

Sawyer MINI

rated 5 of 5 stars The go-to for almost any backpacking trip or emergency preparedness. Easy to use, inexpensive, and easy to find stores that sell these. We always bring our on overnight trips, but it's lightweight enough to bring on day trips for emergencies. I have recommended this to a few friends already. We used for a multi-day trip with four people, but I would recommend the regular sized Sawyer if you have more people or faster water flow. Full review

Bota of Boulder Outback Water Filtration System

rated 5 of 5 stars The water bottle itself works pretty well, but throw in a good filter, and you have yourself a great, lightweight water bottle/filter for use in the backcountry. I purchased one of these bottles back in the late 1990s. I don't remember for sure if it was the Bota brand, or not, but I do know that it is the same drop-in cartridge filter and has worked wonderfully. I've used it on multiple backpacking trips with friends over the years. A couple of my friends were so impressed by it, that they went… Full review

Sawyer MINI

rated 5 of 5 stars This is the perfect size for my get-home bag. It's versatile in that it can be used with pouches or screws on to most any bottle. 100,000 gallon life makes it useful for long-term water purification. Priced right! Full review
