Lowa Men's Tibet GTX

Serious hiking or backpacking boots don't come any better than this. The Tibet GTX is a serious piece of equipment. Excellent support and comfort with no breaking-in needed. Yes, they are heavy, but no more than to be expected with boots of this quality. The water resistance is also very good; my feet have stayed consistently dry. With boots weighing in at 1 kilo each, clearly they are more designed for winter than for summer wear. That said, they have never felt unduly warm. The new Lowa lacing… Full review

The shock of my hiking life. My soles snapped off—on both shoes—two miles into a 15-mile hike. The shoes were 5 or 6 years old, but little used. This was their first time carrying a guy humping a pack. I was shocked. So were all of my hiking companions. After reading other reviews, I see this happens with Asolo. Full review

Lowa Ranger III GTX

This boot is your best friend while you are backpacking, trekking, even on a rainy city day. If you are looking for a full backpack boot, the Lowa Ranger III GTX is worth a try. Super comfortable, outstanding ankle support, the boot does the job for you while you're hiking in a rugged terrain—thanks to its firm grippy sole and excellent lacing system.  Full review

Solid support for hiking or backpacking. I'm on my second pair. I find these to be an excellent, heavier hiking boot. Good traction, very waterproof, and a full rand. I have a size 12, narrow foot, and a size 12 boot fits well except they were a bit short and the toe area is snug from the top and sides. I hike in the mountains, mostly, and downhill walking was problematic because of the toe area. After using the size 12's for a year or two, I bought a pair of 13's. I gave up a little fit in the… Full review

Esatto Men's Classic Hiker

My experience with Esatto Custom Boots was misleading and terrible. When boots first came back they were as big as gumboots (I actually did the measurements a little less (used a lightweight sock and angled the marker in on the outline) as I don't like a larger fitting boot). My Sorels (with removable liner) were smaller (see pics). I sent them back for resizing and within a few months got them back (this was with Alex). Still, the boots were not much smaller, still larger over my Sorel winter boots… Full review

Esatto Men's Classic Hiker

I no longer wear any other shoe. I broke my sesamoid and have to wear orthotic inserts. Without the combination of the support of the boot and orthotic I can hike and walk 10 plus miles a day even on rocks. I would be a very sad person if I could not hike. It is a huge part of my time off. I have five pairs of Esatto's boots/shoes. Work, hiking, and casual. I do and will buy more of Esatto's footwear as long as they are in business. I have a great relationship with the company in my opinion. They… Full review

Soles delaminate after only 250 miles. Don't buy these boots! I bought these boots four years ago and maintained them very well in a controlled environment. I've hiked in Cascade Mountains approximately 250 miles but during a hike in Grand Canyon in March 2019 both soles came off within 10 minutes time.   If you purchase these boots at a premium price save money to buy several rolls of Duck Tape to finish your hike.  You'll need it. Soles of the shoes disintegrated after sitting in my closet for six months. I NEVER wore them. They were purchased to replace my old Merrels. Soles of the shoes disintegrated after sitting in my closet for six months. I NEVER wore them. They were purchased to replace my old Merrells.  Full review

Vasque Montana

These boots have held up for decades of hiking. These Vasque Montana Boots, Italian name Montagna meaning mountain, are a full grain leather boot with 3/4 shank which allows the toe to flex for comfortable hiking yet provide superior ankle support and adhesion to varied terrain. A tough durable boot, crampon-compatible. Up rock cliffs, slog thru rivers. The ultimate in foot protection with superior support on trails, rock ledges, wherever, all with carrying a full pack. I use Sorbothane Classic… Full review
